PADI Enriched Air Diver

Learn how to breathe EAN, or ‘nitrox’, up to 40% oxygen content. This extends your diving times, and often allows you to dive with less fatigue.

We highly recommend this speciality for warm water diving – so if you are going abroad and want to maximise your underwater adventure, then this is the course for you!

Enriched air is readily available from most reputable dive centres around the world (check before booking), and many dive tour operators routinely expect their divers to have this qualification.

1. Course overview

There’s no diving required for this course, only a practical classroom session and assessment at our dive hub. The knowledge development portion will mainly be carried out through PADI e-Learning in your own time.

You already need to be a PADI Open Water diver (or equivilent certification from another training agency), and you need to be at least 12 years old.

2. What you'll learn

You’ll learn how to properly analyse a tank of breathing gas, fill out an enriched air log, and set your dive computer for nitrox.

We’ll also discuss other crucial aspects, such as dive planning, cylinder identification and markings, fill procedures – plus the all important tips to get maximum enjoyment from your dives!

3. Equipment

There’s no diving required for this course, so you won’t need to provide any equipment. For the practical assessment, you’ll get to use our gas analysers to test different gas mixtures with.

4. Learning materials

We will send you any e-Learning materials needed for your specialty course, which will take you to the registration area of the PADI site. This teaches you the background information you need for your course, and allows you to study at your own pace.

You can complete this on pretty much any device with an internet connection.

Some courses also have physical learning content, which we can give you once you’re enrolled.

Ready to start?

You can book and pay for your course with us online, either for yourself or someone else. We’ll send over any e-Learning content to your email, and we can then work with you on suitable dates and times for any in-person sessions.

We have availability throughout the year, although if you have specific dates or a timeline in mind, please check with us first.

Your next adventure...

Now you know all about the benefits of diving with enriched air, why not take a look at the PADI Rebreather course? This is a completely different type of diving, using a breathing unit that removes the carbon dioxide from your exhaled breath – before then adding oxygen back in.

The course builds upon a lot of the knowledge you gained in the Enriched Air course (it’s actually a course requirement!). You’ll get to enjoy the thrill of bubble-free diving, and with longer no-stop limits.

We specialise in training with the Poseidon MKVI & SE7EN rebreather units. You’re welcome to participate in a try-dive first, if you want a little taster to begin with!
